Emotional Based School Avoidance
Wednesday 27th November 2024
3:30pm – 6:00pm

Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), also known as Anxiety-Based School Avoidance (ABSA), is a term used to describe children and young people (CYP) who experience persistent challenges in attending school due to negative feelings, such as anxiety. The term EBSA is used when difficulties attending school have escalated to a point where the CYP has continued to struggle to attend school over a period of time and is associated with emotional and physical distress.
During this webinar, delegates will explore the following topics/themes:
- What is EBSA?
- Factors involved in EBSA
- Anxiety
- Avoidance
- The link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour
- Reducing stress levels
- Key points of support
There will be trainer input, with time built in for offline reflection, activities and Q&A.
